APPLYING FOR A GRANT



To apply for a grant, complete the Lincoln Financial Foundation application by using the online form and submitting it electronically. If you have difficulty with this process, please contact the appropriate community program officer identified below.

Lincoln Financial Foundation Deadlines

The Charitable Contribution Committees will review grants according to our funding priorities.

Grant submission deadlines are:

  • Arts and Culture grants applications must be received by January 15, 2009
    Grants will support arts and culture endeavors through programs and/or sponsorships that demonstrate the following:
    • Increasing accessibility to the arts across all economic strata with an emphasis on school children, underserved, handicapped, and new audiences.
    • Expanding arts education to school children and the underserved, including the elderly and physically/mentally challenged.
  • Education/Workforce Development grant applications must be received by April 21, 2009
    Grants will expose people (regardless of age and physical/mental abilities or limitations) to educational enrichment and advancement opportunities through programs that strive to meet one of the following focus areas:
    • Supporting life-long learning for individuals of all age groups.
      Pre-K: programs that enhance literacy and early childhood education efforts.
      K-12: programs that enrich academic experiences through tutoring, mentoring, leadership development, support for state academic standards, and increase access to college.
      Adults: programs that provide for literacy advancement, English as a second language, financial literacy, and leadership development.
    • Promoting workforce development through economic development and job training to prepare individuals for employment.
      Skills and job retraining: programs that enable individuals of all mental and physical abilities to learn new skills to create enhanced job opportunities.
      Economic development: programs that create increased career development opportunities.
  • Human Services grant applications must be received by July 21, 2009
    Grants will address human service issues that focus on basic needs and building skills for self-sufficiency. In addition, each Charitable Contribution Committee may respond to critical needs that surface in the community. The focus of human service grants primarily will be in areas that demonstrate the following:
    • Meeting basic needs and building skills for self-sufficiency.
      Food: programs that support feeding families and individuals.
      Shelters: programs that provide shelters for emergency housing, domestic violence, rehab programs, and affordable housing.
      Self-Sufficiency: programs that enable individuals to acquire and maintain self-sufficiency through developing and sustaining independence with affordable housing, access to healthcare, and positive self-image.

Applications are reviewed by the local contribution committees within three to four months after the cycle deadline. Notification will be given soon after decisions are rendered.
