LIVE PROGRAM ENCOURAGES AND REWARDS EMPLOYEE VOLUNTEERISM IN THE COMMUNITY

Volunteering is integral to Lincoln Financial Group's culture and our way of life in each of our cities. The LIVE (Lincoln Invests in Volunteer Experiences) Program recognizes the investment employees contribute to nonprofit organizations in their communities and gives employees the opportunity to direct funds to those organizations in which they volunteer.

How does the LIVE Program work?
Full-time employees contributing 50 or more hours during a consecutive 12-month period are eligible to apply for the LIVE Program. The Lincoln Financial Foundation will contribute $500 to the local nonprofit organization benefiting from the 50 hours of volunteer time.

Volunteer hours must be completed during personal time and not during an employee's work hours. In addition, volunteer time does not include training for or participating in events such as walks, races, golf tournaments, or other similar activities. Board meetings, committee meetings, and fundraising projects occurring during an employee's normal work hours will not be considered.

Only the hours of one employee will be considered toward the 50 cumulative hours.

What nonprofit organizations are eligible?
The same guidelines apply to the LIVE Program as other Lincoln Foundation grants. U.S.-based nonprofit organizations with a current 501(c)(3) status with the Internal Revenue Service are eligible to apply.

The LIVE Program recognizes volunteer hours for nonprofits in our local communities.

The Lincoln Foundation supports organizations that respect diversity and adhere to nondiscriminatory practices.

The Lincoln Foundation guidelines do not allow gifts to: public or private elementary or secondary schools, school programs, or school foundations; religious or political organizations; hospitals, hospital programs, hospital foundations, or nursing homes; posts or organizations of war veterans, or an auxiliary unit of such an organization; service or fraternal organizations; individuals; tax-supported organizations; or sports organizations/athletic associations.

What needs to be done?

  • Volunteer hours need to be tracked as specified in the LIVE Program guidelines.
  • The nonprofit organization must be notified that it needs to verify in writing that 50 hours of service were performed.
  • After completing the required 50 hours of volunteer service, the employee must complete the top section of the LIVE Program application form and mail or deliver it to the nonprofit organization receiving the volunteer hours.
  • The recipient organization should complete the bottom section of the form and mail the completed form with a copy of its 501(c)(3) letter to the Lincoln Foundation.
  • After review and approval, the Lincoln Foundation will grant the organization $500 for the 50 hours of volunteering. Note: Incomplete forms will be returned to the employee.

What else do I need to know?

  • A maximum of two contributions per employee are allowed each fiscal year (January–December); however, applications must be for two separate nonprofit organizations.
  • Applications must be submitted within 60 days after the date the 50 volunteer hours have been completed.
  • Only full-time Lincoln Financial employees are eligible to participate in the LIVE Program.
